The Boston Celtics have a need for big man since the offseason. This is something they did not improve either last year or at the NBA trade deadline and they could be waiting for the end of the season. Instead, Boston went a different route at the trade deadline but they can look at the Indiana Pacers once the season is complete.
Boston is currently in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. They came to the season with championship hopes but have not looked the part because of a lack of depth. This is something the front office decided to address it with the addition of Evan Fourier.
The Orlando Magic decided to sell and the Celtics took advantage by adding another strong player on the perimeter. Evan Fournier started off slowly at the very beginning of his time in Boston but has since shown what he’s capable of achieving. However, this does not help they are prowess in the frontcourt and this has been holding them back since Al Horford’s departure.

This is where the Pacers could come in to play in the offseason. They were able to send Victor Oladipo to the Houston Rockets, and he eventually landed in Miami, and some more people to be on the way. We have seen names like Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner in NBA trade rumors in recent weeks.
The Pacers decided to stay put at the NBA trade deadline but that does not mean they are content. Indiana is not the postseason team we are used to seeing in this conference and that could lead to some changes in the offseason. With a salary cap situation that will prevent them from doing much to improve, making an aggressive trade appears to be their best option.
