This Celtics-Pelicans offseason trade is centered around Steven Adams

Over the years, the Boston Celtics have been making move after move to bring in high level, All-Star caliber talents to their organization in attempts to win a championship, but they have not reached the NBA Finals since 2010. With Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker leading this year’s team, they definitely have a chance to contend in the Eastern Conference, but it seems like they are going to come up short of their ultimate goal once again.

Over the years, two things have reallycrippled this Celtics team — their lack of bench play and lack of frontcourt production. This season, the Celtics’ bench ranks 25th in the league in scoring and their best bench player is rookie Payton Pritchard!

Since trading for Evan Fournier, he is probably now their best overall bench scorer, but Pritchard has been their most consistent bench player all season long.

In the frontcourt, they signed Tristan Thompson this past year to aid in rebounding and toughness in the paint, which he has done, but still, this Celtics frontcourt is one of the worst in the league in terms of effectiveness and productivity.

As a result, it should not be surprising to see Boston try to address either of these two issues in the offseason, but could they potentially go after a center like Steven Adams? He just signed a two-year, $35M veteran extension with the New Orleans Pelicans after arriving there before the season, but could they look to trade him after one year?

Let’s take a closer look at this trade that could potentially play out between the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Pelicans.
