Why This Trade Would Benefit The Golden State Warriors

It is no secret that the Golden State Warriors won their championships in recent years behind their ability from three-point range. Stephen Curry is leading the way once again but there is not much else with him. The injury to Thompson was a big hit to the lineup and the Warriors still have not figured out a way to make up for it. This cannot be done anymore this season but once games are complete, Golden State could be looking for those improvements.

Kristaps Porzingis would certainly be an upgrade. He fits right into what the Warriors like to do on the offensive end of the floor. He is a big that can run from rim to rim and knock down an open three. Porzingis would be the perfect pick-and-roll man with Curry on the perimeter.

Golden State is a team that likes to play fast and get up shots quick. This is a style of play that Kristaps Porzingis would fit into. The return would not be cheap but the Warriors will be a win-now team as long as Curry is at the helm.

Let’s not forget, having a stretch-five like Kristaps Porzingis would enable the Warriors to maximize the short-roll playmaking ability of Draymond Green. With Klay Thompson also expected to return to the lineup next season, the unit would have an incredible level of shooting capability.

We have seen the Warriors make big splashes in the past to acquire stars. This is another chance for the team to do just that. Porzingis would bring a new dynamic to Golden State and one that would be welcomed right away.
