This Mavericks-Warriors offseason trade is focused on Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis was in the middle of NBA trade rumors in the weeks leading up to the deadline. The Dallas Mavericks spoke out against rumors and ended up keeping him on the roster. This does not mean he is safe for the future. Porzingis will once again be a big trade piece come the offseason and the Golden State Warriors could be in on him if this is in fact true.

Dallas has dealt with inconsistencies all season long but they have been figuring it out a bit in recent weeks. They are currently 25-21 and in the seventh spot in the Western Conference. They came into the season with postseason aspirations and it is looking they will be fighting for a spot all season long. Luka Doncic is once again leading the team with an MVP-caliber season.

When healthy, Porzingis is extremely productive but this has been the issue during his career, and recent time in Dallas. There is still value around Porzingis and the front office knows they will get quite the return. The Warriors have been linked to many big names and have made plenty of splashes over the years. This is a chance to make another and add a proven big man in the frontcourt.

The Warriors are sitting in the nine hole in the Western Conference standings. They have been dealing with their own difficulties in another year without Klay Thompson, who is out with a torn Achilles.

The Warriors used the second-overall pick in the draft on James Wiseman so their need for a big man was addressed. This does not mean that they are satisfied and will not look elsewhere. He has been quite up-and-down throughout his rookie campaign and if the Warriors are operating under Stephen Curry’s timeline, they do not have time to waste.

This would be a blockbuster deal that would shake up both teams immediately. Here is what a potential deal might look like between the two sides.
