This Cavs-Knicks offseason trade features Collin Sexton

Why This Trade Would Benefit The Cleveland Cavaliers

Collin Sexton received praise from LeBron James coming out of college. This led to the Cavaliers selecting him but James ended up leaving for Los Angeles anyway. Regardless of the reason for the selection, Sexton is making Cleveland look good.

This has not turned into success for the team as they are currently 13th in the East at 17-30. As crazy as it sounds, the team is not completely dead as they are just five games out of a postseason position.

The front office has made it clear that they are rebuilding and could make some big moves. Drummond was the first one and we have seen Love thrown into rumors as well. If Sexton is sent away, this means the team has a belief in Garland and Isaac Okoro moving forward. The Cavaliers acquired Jarrett Allen in the three-team deal that landed James Harden in Brooklyn.

There is a young core to rely on and Sexton was thought to be at the top. If they make this deal, Toppin and Quickley will have to step up and play big roles for a rebuilding team. There is less pressure in Cleveland and the players would have some more time to develop.

It is hard to imagine the Cavaliers just sending Collin Sexton away but the return of two rookies and first-round picks would be hard to pass up. This would basically be four first-round picks for Sexton. In the end, it will be interesting to see the next moves made by the Cavaliers to rebuild the roster.
