Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
There has been some bad luck and some poor decisions surrounding the New York Knicks organization for years. It seems as though the team is beginning to turn a corner with their cast of characters, and it begins with Tom Thibodeau on the sideline.
Thbodeau has the team playing well on the defensive end and this is how they have been winning games. Along with ultimate production from Randle, the coaching of Thibodeau has the Knicks playing well but they are far from being complete.
The East is an extremely top-heavy conference and the Knicks are not part of that top. They have yet to land that star to take the team to the next level. This is something the team has not had since Carmelo Anthony and something they have not had at the point guard position since what feels like the days of Walt Frazier.

Collin Sexton could quickly turn into the new king in New York. He has proven that he is a star in the making and is getting there quicker than anticipated. The return would be large but the Knicks have draft picks stashed from the Kristaps Porzingis deal. Also, Toppin has not looked like the player the team was expecting when they used a top-10 pick on him in this year’s draft.
With the way the East has been, the Knicks are not far away from the postseason. In fact, they are looking like a team that could finish in the fourth or fifth spot. The trade deadline has passed but the front office should be looking to improve further in the offseason.
