Why this trade makes sense for the Philadelphia 76ers

Not only is he one of the better bench scorers in the entire league, but Terrence Ross has consistently proven to be a great weapon who is in the prime of his career. A lot of people tend to think Terrence Ross is a veteran, older player, but Ross is only 30-years-old and still has plenty of years left in his career!

Ross is now in his 9th season in the NBA and over the last two years in Orlando, he has turned himself into one of the best bench players in the entire league. In that timespan, Ross has averaged 14.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and has shot 35.5% from three-point range off-the-bench.

This season, Terrence Ross has continued to prove he is one of the better bench players in the league. Ross could be the high-impact, experienced leader this Philadelphia 76ers team needs to finally break through and make it to the NBA Finals for a chance to win their first title since 1983, especially if they do not do so this season.

The Sixers’ bench is not overly impressive and next season, they will not have much room to improve it either. This is why going out and trading for Ross to bring in off-the-bench could go a long way. Giving up a role player in Seth Curry and a future first-round pick seems like a lot of value, but they can easily replace Curry on the wing with a less expensive, veteran player like Wayne Ellington in free agency.

Not only could Ross join the Sixers and be their best player off-the-bench, but he could be a reliable fourth scoring option for them outside of Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons. This would be a major upgrade for Philly and would give them even more offensive firepower to compete for a championship.

Bench scoring is extremely important in the NBA and with the Sixers already having one of the better trios in the league this season, it is extremely important for them to bolster their bench this offseason, whether they win a championship or not. Terrence Ross could be the perfect wing player they need to edge out the rest of the competition in the Eastern Conference and make the NBA Finals next season.
