Does this trade make sense for the Lakers?

The only way this trade makes sense for the Los Angeles Lakers is if they fail to win another championship. They have already been mentioned in NBA trade rumors as being interested in trading Montrezl Harrell and they could still have interest in doing so should Andre Drummond remain with them past this season.

Outside of LeBron James and Anthony, everybody on this Lakers’ roster is expendable as they are in “championship mode” and willing to do whatever it takes to put them in the best position possible to compete for championships. Whether or not they keep Harrell long-term is a huge question that we will likely get more clarity on in the offseason.

Overall though, this trade does make a fair amount of sense for the Lakers long-term, especially since Miles Bridges is only 22-years-old and since they get a future first-round pick. Bridges is one of the better athletic players in the entire league and with plenty of potential, he could be a great young player for them to add to their rotation.

Again, who knows what happens the rest of the year with the Lakers and who knows what happens with their roster because they are always willing to talk deals and try to get the best talent on their roster possible.

Dennis Schroder is going to be a free agent in the offseason and Montrezl Harrell has a player option, so who knows if he will even be on the Lakers for them to be able to trade! Harrell could easily decline his option and freely sign with the Hornets if he so chooses, so it is very early to speculate on if the Lakers will trade him, but they definitely get fair value in this trade.
