LeBron James eyeing Stephen Curry as teammate with Los Angeles Lakers

The NBA is no stranger to unforeseen superstar pairings coming to fruition. The most recent of all was recent NBA MVP James Harden forcing his way to the Brooklyn Nets to play alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Could LeBron James find a way to get Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry to join him and Anthony Davis with the Los Angeles Lakers? The possibility has found its way into NBA trade rumors as of late.

During a recent appearance on his Hoop Collective, ESPN NBA Insider Brian Windhorst shared how LeBron James put on a ‘full-court press’ to recruit Stephen Curry to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I thought it was hilarious over All-Star Weekend, LeBron praising Steph up and down … how much he loves his game, how much he respects him. LeBron has obviously put the full-court press on, not the full-court press, but LeBron has obviously begun the recruiting of Steph, just in the event that he wouldn’t extend and that somehow he would become a free agent and that the Lakers would have a swing at him.”

It seems almost impossible when thinking about Stephen Curry departing the Warriors given all of the success he has achieved with the organization. However, if he has legitimate aspirations of winning another championship before his NBA career is over, he will almost certainly need to do it as a member of another team.

Klay Thompson now has a legitimately concerning injury history and the rest of the supporting cast around Stephen Curry just isn’t up-to-par. Being able to play alongside superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis would go a long way.

As long as the Golden State Warriors underachieve, Stephen Curry will be a name that surfaces in NBA trade rumors. He’s a superstar with MVP talent that is stuck in a situation he can’t compete for a title in and that will naturally lead to speculation about a change of scenery.

It will be fascinating to see if Stephen Curry ever decides to depart from the Golden State Warriors if things do not turn around. He can continue to command more money with the organization than he would as part of another team. He also has nothing left to prove in his NBA career given the success he’s already achieved winning multiple MVPs and championships.
