3. Dallas Mavericks
Dallas added some help on the perimeter prior to the trade deadline and can now look to move to the front-court. J.J. Redick and Nicolo Melli will bring a new dynamic to the Mavericks. Redick is a free agent after the season, but will have a chance to sign a deal if he believes the team is close to winning. Adding a veteran like Horford could help get them to that level.
The Mavericks are currently 24-21 in a difficult Western Conference this season. Luka Doncic is showing that he is truly one of the best players in the league. Kristaps Porzingis has been dynamic when he is on the floor, but that has been a struggle to this point.
The team decided not to move Porzingis and he would be an interesting fit with Horford. They are big men with different skill-sets. That would make the Mavericks difficult to guard down low and it could cause some matchup problems. Mark Cuban is an owner that is not afraid to make some big moves if he believes they will help his team win.
Dallas knows that Al Horford might not cost much in the offseason and that is one reason they could be all in. Whether it is Horford or someone else, expect the Mavericks to make some more noise once the season is complete.
