Why James Harden is right about being the NBA MVP

Brooklyn Nets James Harden made his opinion clear when asked about the NBA MVP race after the team’s 113-111 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

“Do I feel like I belong in it? I feel like I am the MVP,” Harden said, via NBA.com media reports. “I mean, it’s just that simple. I don’t want to speak individually on myself. I’m just going to leave it at that.”

“I just try to go out there every single night and give my teammates everything that I can bring to the game.”

It’s hard to argue. Harden is one of the most controversial players in the league because of his style and tendencies. When looking at performance and history, Harden is elite and is continuing to show it on an elite team.

Harden forced his way out of Houston and ended up in Brooklyn with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. So far, the Nets are 24-7 when Harden is on the floor. He is averaging 25.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and leads the league with 11.2 assists per game. The Nets are currently 31-15 and just one game out of the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

This would not be the first NBA MVP award for Harden. He was given the honor back in 2018 when he lead the league with 30.4 points per game. Harden could be on his way to his second NBA MVP award. He certainly thinks that he deserves it and here are three reasons why he is right.
