Over a month ago, Andre Drummond and the Cleveland Cavaliers reached an agreement to work on the former All-Star center’s future and look to potentially trade him somewhere else ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Drummond was not moved before the deadline and as a result, the Cavaliers reached a buyout agreement with him so he could sign with whatever team he wanted to play for.
Plenty of playoff and championship-caliber teams reached out to Drummond in attempts to sign him to a one-year deal, but the Los Angeles Lakers emerged as the heavy favorite to sign the former All-Star center a few weeks back and sources told NBA Analysis Network on Saturday night that the Andre Drummond intended to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Sunday afternoon, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that Drummond will be signing with the Los Angeles Lakers once he clears waivers. This is a massive addition for the Lakers for many reasons and once again proves that GM Rob Pelinka and this Lakers’ front-office are willing to do everything they can to win as many championships as possible with LeBron James leading them.
With Anthony Davis being out since early February with a calf injury and now LeBron James being sidelined due to a high ankle sprain, the Los Angeles Lakers really needed some good news and they got that with Drummond intending on signing with them.
