The Philadelphia 76ers have been working the phones tirelessly in an attempt to acquire depth at the point guard position. Kyle Lowry has been talked about a lot, but the 76ers have made a trade for another point guard. That point guard would be Oklahoma City Thunder veteran George Hill.

Hill has been mentioned at times in trade rumors connected with the 76ers. However, his name got lost in the busy shuffle of the Lowry rumors.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 76ers have acquired Hill from the Thunder in exchange for Tony Bradley, Terrance Ferguson, and two future second-round picks.

The trade was widened a bit to include the New York Knicks, who are getting Ferguson and sending Austin Rivers to the Thunder.

While this was a very busy trade, the 76ers have to feel very good about how they are coming out of it. Hill is a very good veteran point guard who can shoot the three at a high level and play great defense. That is exactly what the 76ers needed to find.

As for the Thunder, they are adding more draft capital and also acquire Rivers. They likely do not have plans for Rivers and could end up buying him out of his contract.

So far this season with the Thunder, George Hill has averaged 11.8 points per game to go along with 3.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds. He has shot 50.8 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 38.6 percent of his three-point attempts.

Hill is 34 years old now and being able to contend for a ring with the 76ers will be exciting for him. He has been a consummate professional throughout his entire career and this is a great opportunity for him personally.

Expect to see quite a bit more action with the NBA trade deadline right around the corner. Teams are making moves and both the Thunder and 76ers have to like what they were able to get done with this move.
