Davis Bertans
After signing a 5-year, $80M contract-extension, it was believed that Davis Bertans would be part of Washington’s core moving forward, but recent rumors state that the Wizards are interested in potentially moving the 28-year-old sharpshooter.
Now in his second season with the Wizards, Bertans has put together a pretty underwhelming season to this point and is now out with a calf injury. In 35 games with Washington this season, Bertans has averaged 10.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and has shot 38.2% from three-point range.
Beal and Westbrook take up over 60% of the Wizards’ available cap space and with Bertans being owed over $15M per year for the next five seasons, including this season, Washington does not have much space at all to be able to surround their two superstar players with other high-level talents that can help this organization win games.

This is probably why the Wizards are willing to listen to offers for Bertans, but this does not necessarily mean they are going to move him. He is their best bench player and one of the best spot-up three-point shooters in the league, so if they are going to trade him, they would have to be getting a ton of value out of this trade and not just move him for salary relief.
It is unlikely that the Wizards make a move and trade Davis Bertans at the trade deadline tomorrow afternoon, but with them gauging interest in him around the league, they could potentially be setting up to move him in the offseason.
