The New York Knicks did not make a major move at the NBA trade deadline like many were expecting. However, they may not be done quite yet. They are expected to be active in the buyout market and Andre Drummond is a name to keep a very close eye on.

One NBA agent who spoke to NBA Analysis Network stated the he believes the Knicks will end up landing Drummond.

“The Lakers are going to be hot and heavy after Andre Drummond, but I think he ends up with the Knicks. New York has even thrown around the idea of signing him to a multi-year contract. If I had to bet, I would bet that he goes to the Knicks over the Lakers.”

Drummond would certainly be a big addition for the Knicks. He would give them a consistent presence at the center position. His ability to rebound at an elite level would be a major plus for New York.

So far this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Drummond has averaged 17.5 points per game to go along with 13.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He also chipped in 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Granted, the Knicks should not be signing Drummond with the expectation that he will be an offensive juggernaut. He can score the ball, but he is not the kind of guy that will consistently put up 25 points per game by himself. Thankfully, that is not what the Knicks need him to be.

New York simply needs a center who can rebound and defend at a high level. Scoring points is a bonus. Andre Drummond would be able to fit that role perfectly.

It will be interesting to see how the market shapes up for Drummond. As mentioned, the Lakers are going to be in on him and the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics could make a push as well. But, it sounds like the Knicks might be the best bet to sign him.

Expect to hear more news about the next chapter for Andre Drummond in the near future. If you’re a Knicks’ fan, keep your fingers crossed.
