The Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics are two teams to keep an eye on as the trade deadline is just hours away. Orlando needs to reshape their roster and have some veteran pieces that they could move to help for the future. The Celtics are one of the biggest disappointments this season after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in the Orlando Bubble and a trade for either Terrence Ross or Aaron Gordon could be a big addition.

There were reportedly discussions between the two teams centered around forward Aaron Gordon. Gordon formally requested a trade from Orlando last weekend, but now it sounds like he is backtracking a bit from that request. However, he is not the only player the two organizations have discussed.

According to LegionHoopsRoss on Twitter, the Magic and Celtics have discussed a potential Terrence Ross trade.

Ross has turned into one of the best sixth men in the NBA over the last few years in Orlando. He can fill it up with the best of them and is averaging a career-high 16 points per game. He has started adding more to his game this season as well, as the 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals are all new career-highs or tying his previous career-highs.

While Ross doesn’t help solve the Celtics’ frontcourt issues, he would provide another offensive weapon for them to use. Right now, they rely heavily on the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with Kemba Walker looking like he is rounding back into playing shape.

Since Ross is not a rental, as he is signed through 2023, Orlando will want a good return for him. While a first-round pick might be a high asking price, Orlando may be looking for that. Ross is locked in contract-wise and is in the midst of a career season; his value will most likely never be higher.

In addition to Terrence Ross, the Magic could be moving on from Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier this afternoon as well. Nikola Vucevic was already traded in a massive blockbuster deal to the Chicago Bulls.
