Despite being in seventh place in the Western Conference with a record of 22-18, the San Antonio Spurs sound like a team that will be very active before the NBA Trade Deadline as sellers. On the other hand, the Chicago Bulls are going to be buyers and DeMar DeRozan could come into play between the two teams.

The Spurs are actively working to find a new home for LaMarcus Aldridge, who has remained away from the team until a resolution is found. Rudy Gay was targeted by the Miami Heat, but the price was higher than they were willing to go. Trey Lyles would like to find a new place to play, and they have made it clear that DeRozan could also be had in a trade.

DeRozan is the player that would probably fetch the most in a return package. He is playing like an All-Star this season despite not being selected and has developed into a premier playmaking wing. He is averaging 20.3 points and 7.4 assists per game with only 1.6 turnovers.

There are plenty of teams that have shown interest in DeMar DeRozan, one of them being the Bulls. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, there are members of the Bulls’ front office that have an interest in acquiring DeRozan. They believe adding a piece like that would cement the Bulls among the playoff teams in the Eastern Conference.

With Otto Porter Jr. also reportedly a buyout candidate, the Bulls could have plenty of minutes available in their front-court that DeRozan could soak up. Chicago is reportedly listening to trade offers for Lauri Markkanen as well.

Could the Spurs and Bulls make a swap involving DeRozan and Markkanen? DeRozan has been playing exclusively in the front-court the last two seasons in San Antonio, logging a majority of his minutes at power forward. He would also give the team another playmaker in the starting five and take some pressure off of All-Star Zach LaVine scoring the ball.

Expect DeRozan and the Spurs to part ways sooner than later, whether it is before the deadline or as a free agent this summer.
