Why This Trade Would Benefit The Sacramento Kings

Harrison Barnes is in the second of a four-year deal he signed with the Sacramento Kings last offseason. He is owed upwards of $51 million for the duration of his contract. This is a high number and one that the Kings could be looking to dump moving forward.

Barnes and Buddy Hield have dominated NBA trade rumors for the Kings. They are a team that is looking to go in a different direction and build around Fox. Like Minnesota, Sacramento has found themselves near the bottom of the conference for quite some time.

It will be much harder to rebuild and compete in the Western Conference for a team like Sacramento. That is why sending a player old this much money over the next three years would help them financially.

The Kings have to do more than just send Barnes away if they want to compete. They will have to hit on some draft picks and potentially acquire some big-name players in free agency. This is a first step to what is certainly going to be a long process.
