Sometimes a trade can happen between two rebuilding NBA teams that benefits them in the long run. That is what this deal featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings will attempt to do. Both teams are going nowhere this season and have a lot of work to do in the future.
The Timberwolves have quickly fallen apart in the Eastern Conference. They are at the bottom of the standings and have been for a majority of the year. Karl-Anthony Towns has missed some time which caused the team to plummet early on.
With the current state of the franchise, we have seen players like Towns and D’Angelo Russell featured in NBA trade rumors if they decide to sell. They have plenty of options to send away but they would be acquiring an asset in a deal such as this one.
Harrison Barnes is having one of his better offensive seasons for the Sacramento Kings this year. He is currently third on the team in scoring and plays a big role, both on the floor and in the locker room. The Kings are in a similar situation to Minnesota.
They are rebuilding team could look to sell at the NBA trade deadline and Barnes is an obvious choice to trade away. De’Aaron Fox is the centerpiece player in Sacramento and the front office has to do what they can to build around him.
Barnes going to Minnesota would give the Timberwolves another threat. Let’s take a look at what it might take to get this deal done prior to the deadline.
