Why This Trade Would Benefit The Orlando Magic

The Magic were in an interesting position coming into the season. They could have attempted to buy at the NBA trade deadline in hopes of contending in the East but have since falling off. It is likely that they are going to sell. Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon have been the two names featured most in NBA trade rumors because of their current situations.

Fournier is in the final year of his contract and could choose not to re-sign with the Magic. At this moment, his intentions are unknown. The Magic also have a decision to make regarding their shooting guard. If they get word that he is  not going to resign, it would benefit them to send him away for a return.

This particular deal is not much about that return as it is Fournier being sent away. The Magic are a  rebuilding team and any assets could help. They do not have leverage in this deal so they will have to take what they can get.
