JJ Redick could look to end up with Suns if bought out

The New Orleans Pelicans will have a tough decision to make on veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick if they can’t find a trade partner ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Many believe he will end up being bought out by the team. If that happens, could he reunite with Chris Paul on the Phoenix Suns?

According to a report from Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Redick could look to sign with the Suns following a buyout. He could also consider returning to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Redick could return to his old haunts with the Philadelphia 76ers, but look for him to join former Los Angeles Clippers teammate Chris Paul on the Phoenix Suns.”

Joining the Suns would make a ton of sense for Redick. He would play in an up-tempo offense that thrives off of shooting the three. Playing off of Paul and Devin Booker would also lead to a lot of open looks for him.

So far this season with the Pelicans, Redick has had a hard time getting things going. His role has been somewhat inconsistent and he simply hasn’t looked like he wants to be playing for the Pelicans. A change of scenery to a team like the Suns could be exactly what he needs to get back on track.

JJ Redick has averaged 8.7 points per game to go along with 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He has shot 40.7 percent from the floor and has knocked down 36.4 percent from the three-point line.

Some reports have come out that Redick would prefer to sign with a team that is close to his home in Brooklyn. That has led many to think that the Nets could add another veteran to their roster. However, if Redick wants a bigger role, the Suns could be the ideal landing spot for him.

At 36 years old, Redick is in the twilight of his career. He only has a couple of good years left in him, which will make him want to join a serious contender. The Suns can give him that and they can offer him a sizable role.

Expect to see quite a few teams come forward with interest in Redick if he is bought out by the Pelicans. Don’t be surprised if the Suns are one of those potential destinations.
