The Los Angeles Clippers entered the offseason with a need at the point guard position. They did not improve which means they could look to the NBA trade deadline to add a dynamic player at the top of the offense. The Minnesota Timberwolves could be a trade partner for Los Angeles.
The Timberwolves are clearly in a rebuilding phase where they should be selling in a few weeks. This means any veteran players or a big names are on the trading block. We have seen this with rumors involving Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.
In this deal, they would send away one of their veteran point guard in Ricky Rubio to the Clippers. This would be a move to get younger and dump a player that is not a part of the future planned.

The Clippers have expressed interest in adding a veteran point guard for the second half of the season. This is exactly what Rubio is. This would give them some experience at the top of the offense to go with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. It was a disappointing into the year down in the bubble and the Clippers want to make sure that they take that next step this time around.
