JaVale McGee – Cleveland Cavaliers

One of the most under-appreciated centers in the entire league has to be JaVale McGee. Maybe he gave himself a bad name by appearing on “Shaqtin’ a Fool” too many times, but McGee has always been a very reliable back-up center that not only knows what it takes to win, but is always willing to sacrifice personal success for team success.

This is the type of player every team should want and is the type of player that could definitely have an impact in Phoenix. While he did not play much during this time, some of JaVale McGee’s best basketball of his career was when he spent two years with the Warriors. In both seasons, he averaged less than 10 minutes per game, but he made a huge difference by stepping up when guys got injured and playing his role as a shot-blocker perfectly.

This season with the Cavaliers, JaVale McGee plays about 15 minutes per game, but he is still averaging 5.2 rebounds per game and 1.2 blocks per game. He is a high-motor center that makes the most of his time on the court and works his “you know what” off to put his team in the best position to succeed.

This kind of mentality is what wins championships and as a result, JaVale McGee has won three NBA championships in four seasons. His championship experience and mentality could be fantastic for the Suns to add, which is why he is a very intriguing under-the-radar trade target.

The Cavaliers are interested in moving some of their frontcourt players, especially with the emergence of young big man Jarrett Allen, which is why the Phoenix Suns could potentially add JaVale McGee to their roster for virtually nothing. He is also a potential buyout candidate for many across the league should the Cavaliers not reach a deal including McGee ahead of the trade deadline.
