The Los Angeles Lakers are without a question one of the top teams in the NBA when healthy. Unfortunately, health has been a big issue for them with Anthony Davis missing a lot of time and LeBron James now dealing with an ankle injury. A trade could be needed and Montrezl Harrell is a name to monitor.
Harrell was signed in free agency and has been a big part of the rotation for the Lakers. However, for the right price, the Lakers would be willing to move him.
According to a report from Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Lakers are open to the ideal of trading Harrell. He also mentioned that the Charlotte Hornets have called with interest in trading for Harrell.
“Charlotte has also called the Lakers about Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles’ bruising center, sources said, and the reigning champions appear willing to entertain offers.”
So far this season with the Lakers, Harrell has put up good numbers. He has averaged 14.7 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds. Harrell has shot an impressive 64.1 percent from the floor.
Those numbers show why teams would absolutely have interest in trading for Harrell. He can score the ball at a high level, is an excellent rebounder, and the energy he brings to the court is infections. Even the Lakers would hate to lose that kind of a presence.
Los Angeles will not make a trade just for the sake of making a move. They would need to get something of equal value back.
It will be interesting to see what the Lakers end up doing at the trade deadline. They would likely prefer to simply add to their core rather than detract from it. A player like Wayne Ellington, who would add more three-point shooting, would be better than moving Harrell.
Expect to see the Lakers continue being active in trade rumors. Montrezl Harrell may be available, but it seems unlikely that he will be traded.
