Spencer Dinwiddie – Brooklyn Nets

Since trading for James Harden, the Brooklyn Nets have been the most dominant team in the NBA and at times, they have looked virtually impossible to stop offensively. At full strength with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden, the Nets have three of the most versatile scorers in the league today and as a result, they are going to be a tough team to beat come playoff time.

With Spencer Dinwiddie being out though, he does not present much value to them in their championship effort, which is why they could potentially look to move him at the NBA trade deadline this year. The Heat are one of the few teams that have reportedly reached out to Brooklyn about trading for Dinwiddie, which may not help the Heat this year in their own championship efforts, but help them moving forward.

Last season, Spencer Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and shot 41.5% from the floor and 30.8% from three-point range. With both KD and Kyrie out last season, Dinwiddie emerged as a leader for the Nets and was one of the main reasons they ended up making the playoffs.

While there’s definitely a concern for a player returning from an ACL injury, Spencer Dinwiddie is a high-level and a highly talented point guard that is an excellent playmaker and facilitator. He can make those around him better while still being one of the better offensive options for his team, which is why he could be a great fit with the Miami Heat.

After just acquiring Trevor Ariza, the Miami Heat do not have much room to acquire another fairly large contract, especially for a player that can not help them in their championship pursuit this season, but they have been actively shopping some of their veteran players like Avery Bradley and Maurice Markless, both of which could be included in a trade package to acquire Spencer Dinwiddie.

The Heat are going to be making a big move at some point within the next year or two to bring in another All-Star talent to pair with Butler and Adebayo, which is why they need to make moves like this one. Going out and getting a high-level talent like Spencer Dinwiddie on an affordable contract makes a ton of sense for the Miami Heat.

Him being out this year does not help their chances of winning a title, but neither do Avery Braldey or Maurice Harkless at this point, which is why flipping these two guys and a draft pick for Spencer Dinwiddie would be a really solid move by the Heat’s front-office.
