Al Horford – Oklahoma City Thunder

Al Horford was traded to the OKC Thunder this past offseason in a deal that sent Danny Green to the 76ers and he has been one of the better players for OKC so far this season. In 27 games for the Thunder, Horford is averaging 14.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and shooting 44.7% from the floor, proving to everyone around the league that he can still contribute at a high-level.

While he is not the player he once was with the Atlanta Hawks earlier in his career, Al Horford can still be an impact player for a playoff-caliber team, which is why the Mavericks could express interest in him ahead of the NBA trade deadline. The only catch to trading for Horford is that he is still owed $81M through the 2022-23 season.

This is a rather large price tag for the Mavericks to absorb at this time, which is why they may ultimately look elsewhere at the NBA trade deadline, but he would definitely fit in with the Mavericks and be a player they can depend on for production.

Kristaps Porzingis is the only real contributor offensively in Dallas’ frontcourt, as Maxi Kleber is more of a “3-and-D” big man, which is why getting a low-post and mid-range threat like Al Horford makes sense.

He can score from virtually any spot on the court offensively and on the defensive end of the court, Al Horford can help the Mavericks rebounding, something they rank 25th in the league in. Again, he is not the player he once was and is not worth the amount the Mavericks would have to pay him, but Al Horford is definitely a guy who can join the Mavericks and increase their chances for success moving forward.
