Why This Trade Would Benefit The Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are in a position to get some assets for Myles Turner. This is a trade that could work because of the salary dump and the draft pick coming back. Indiana still has a chance to make a run in the Eastern Conference given the state of the teams but they are not looking like a postseason team this year.
Turner has two years left on his contract, not including this one, and he is owed $17.5 million a year. This is a team-friendly contract given the player they have but this is about Indiana dumping some contract. Zeller is in the final year of his deal and would not be re-signing with the Pacers.
Washington is an intriguing player coming back, along with a first-round pick. The emergence of Sabonis, who is averaging 20 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, has given the team some options. The front office in Indiana has been run well over the years and it will be interesting to see what they do here.
