This Raptors-Spurs trade is focused on LaMarcus Aldridge

The Toronto Raptors have been one of the top teams in the NBA over the last two years. That has not been the case to this point. They are currently 17-22 and falling behind a bit in the Eastern Conference. Toronto is an aggressive team and could look to make a move at the NBA trade deadline if they want to improve.

The Raptors made it a priority in the offseason to sign Fred VanVleet to a contract. They two sides agreed on a four-year, $80 million deal and this made VanVleet the new cornerstone player in Toronto.

This is why we have seen Kyle Lowry’s name in trade rumors but in this particular deal, the Raptors are acquiring that player that would help. If they want to attempt to make a move towards the postseason, they could look to a veteran player for help.

The San Antonio Spurs are one team that has options. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have been in NBA trade rumors since the offseason. They are both in the final year of their deals and will not be re-signing with the team in free agency.

In this deal, LaMarcus Aldridge would be the one on the move. Here is a deal that could get him in a Raptors’ uniform at the NBA trade deadline.
