Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks

The first half of the season was exciting for the New York Knicks and their fans. They were able to watch a competitive team and have some hope heading into the second half. The schedule is going to get much more difficult for New York but they could help themselves further by making a big deal at the NBA trade deadline.

Russell has struggled to find a home long term in the league because he has not been in ideal situations since being taken with the second-overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015. The Knicks have a huge need at the shooting guard position. This is something that Russell could improve right away. This season, Russell is scoring 19.2 points per game but is not healthy at the moment.

At 25-years old, Russell could be a potential long-term option for a team like the Knicks. This would give them a much-needed perimeter threat and scorer. Russell has the ability to handle the ball and shoot from deep when he is on the floor.
