Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have come up in NBA trade rumors recently for all of the worst reasons. John Collins trade talk is continuing to gain traction and with him being their second best young player next to Trae Young, losing him would be a disaster for a Hawks team that has the makings of being a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.

At full strength, the Hawks could definitely be one of the top offensive teams in the league and with Collins continuing to get better, losing him could leave a major hole in the Hawks’ frontcourt. After failing to reach a contract extension agreement in the offseason, Collins’ future in Atlanta is very much up-in-the-air and if they can receive a ton of future value for him, then the Hawks could potentially look to trade their young star.

As a result, this is why they could potentially look to add LaMarcus Aldridge. The Hawks are definitely in playoff contention this year in the East and if they are to lose John Collins, they will need someone else they can turn to for production in their frontcourt besides Clint Capela, which is why Aldridge could fit in nicely.

They would only need him for one year and he would free up some much needed cap space that the Hawks could use in the offseason to do a little bit of roster reconstruction with Collins being gone. If they elect to keep John Collins, then there is really no need for the Hawks to trade for Aldridge, especially since they are already $5.5M over the salary cap and would have to likely part ways with both Tony Snell and possibly a high-level talent like De’Andre Hunter to acquire him.

Whether it be Aldridge or someone else, expect the Atlanta Hawks to be active at the trade deadline, especially if they look to move John Collins.
