The Los Angeles Clippers have been very active in trade rumors ahead of the upcoming NBA trade deadline. Most reports have linked them with trying to improve the point guard position. One potential option for them could be Oklahoma City Thunder veteran guard George Hill.
Hill has been mentioned in quite a few rumors over the last couple of weeks. Among the teams with interest in him have been the Philadelphia 76ers, who also need some help with guard depth.
According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Clippers are interested in trading for Hill.
Several playoff contenders have interest in both Hill and Ariza, sources say. The Clippers are among teams interested in Hill, sources said. Hill has been a positive veteran player for Oklahoma City, and coupled with the fact that he has another season left on his contract in 2021-22 ($10 million, partially guaranteed), the Thunder are happy retaining Hill into the second half of the season unless a team meets their asking price for the veteran point guard.
So far this season with the Thunder, Hill has played in 14 games. He has struggled with injury issues this year. Hill has averaged 11.8 points per game to go along with 3.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.9 steals.
Looking at this potential option for the Clippers, Hill seems like a perfect fit. He can run the point, shoot the three, and play quality defense. If he can stay healthy, the Clippers would improve a lot by acquiring him.
At 34 years of age, George Hill would also be happy to play for a championship contender. The Thunder simply aren’t a contender this season. Hill is in the final stage of his productive career and being traded to the Clippers would give him a chance to compete.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Clippers as the trade deadline draws closer. Hill could be a name to keep a close eye on for them.
