Dallas Mavericks
Ever since they failed to sign DeAndre Jordan in free agency, when the Clippers “locked” him in his house during the summer of 2016, the Mavericks have been consistently looking for ways to improve their frontcourt and while they have Kristaps Porzingis, they could greatly benefit from adding a young, versatile big man like Marvin Bagley III.
The Mavericks’ frontcourt is not terrible with other role players surrounding Kristaps Porzingis in Maxi Kleber, Willie Cauley-Stein, James Johnson and Dwight Powell, but adding Marvin Bagley III aids them in numerous areas on the court.
This season, the Mavericks currently ranks 24th in the league in rebounding and 19th in the league in scoring. Not to mention, the Mavericks also rank 23rd in the league in points in the paint per game on offense.
For a team with potential championship aspirations, this is not going to cut it, which is why adding Bagley could make a lot of sense for them. He has one more year left on his rookie contract after this season and next to Kristaps Porzingis, he could really thrive as one of the Mavericks’ top offensive weapons from the low-post.
Outside of Doncic and Porzingis, production has been hard to come by for the Mavs this season and they have been searching for who could be this team’s “third best” scoring option. At times, Tim Hardaway Jr. has stepped up into this role and other times, backup point guard Jalen Brunson has stepped up.

Consistency has been hard to come by for the Mavericks this year and if they do not make a somewhat big move at the trade deadline, they could share the same fate as last year’s team — losing in the first-round of the playoffs. Adding Marvin Bagley III to their frontcourt definitely improves this team on both ends of the court and should give them the firepower they need to potentially make some noise during the back-half of the season.
