Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Kyle Lowry (via TOR), CHA 2022 2nd Round Pick (via BOS)

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Danny Green (via PHI), G Matisse Thybulle (via PHI), C Daniel Theis (via BOS), PHI 2021 1st Round Pick, PHI 2024 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)

Boston Celtics Receive: G Seth Curry (via PHI), F Mike Scott (via PHI)

Kyle Lowry has been one of the superstars whose name keeps appearing in NBA trade rumors, even though he has shot down all the speculation that he is leaving Toronto. The 6x All-Star point guard is in the final year of his contract with the Raptors and is about to be 35-years old, which is one of the main reasons why his name has been circulating around the league.

It is not crazy to believe that the Toronto Raptors would listen to offers for their veteran point guard, especially since he is in the final years of his career. Ultimately, it seems like Lowry will be staying in Toronto, but the Philadelphia 76ers have been a team that has been targeting him for months now.

The 76ers organization is very much in love with the idea of adding Kyle Lowry to their roster, especially since he is from Philadelphia. With the Brooklyn Nets starting to take things over in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers may have to make a big move at this year’s trade deadline in order to capitalize on their championship window, especially since the window is now closing even more.

Trading for Kyle Lowry would absolutely be a huge move that would shake things up in the league, but it would cost the 76ers quite a bit since Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris take up about $104M in cap space this year.

Trading away Danny Green and Mike Scott is not much of a loss for the 76ers, especially if they are getting a player like Lowry, but losing Seth Curry and Matisse Thybulle could definitely hurt their overall depth. Curry is one of the top three-point shooters in the league and Thybulle is an excellent, young perimeter defender.

A third team would definitely have to be involved in this deal for Kyle Lowry to go to Philly only because the Raptors would not want to and cannot absorb four different player’s contracts. As a result, the Celtics were included in this deal since they need more overall depth on their roster and could greatly benefit from a guy like Seth Curry. Plus, they have a $28.5M trade exception they could use to absorb both contracts.

If the Philadelphia 76ers are serious about acquiring Kyle Lowry, then they will have to be willing to move a lot of contracts on their roster around and be willing to give up a few first-round draft picks. The Raptors will want everything they can get for their 6x All-Star, which is why the 76ers will have to be “all-in” to get him in their championship push.
