LeBron James doesn’t believe Lakers need to change roster

The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned in a ton of trade rumors as the NBA trade deadline draws closer. Many believe that the team could use more help alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, “The King” himself may not believe that to be the case.

In a quote from James, shared by Mark Medina of USA Today, James made it clear that he doesn’t think the Lakers need to change their roster.

“I’m not in the mindframe as far as what needs to happen as far as our roster. For us, what needs to happen is we want to play better basketball with the group that we got. I believe in every guy in our locker room and every guy that hits the floor.”

While James may not believe that the Lakers need to make any trades, it seems likely that they will continue looking to do so. Everyone knows that Rob Pelinka wants to ensure his team’s ability to repeat as NBA champions.

Speaking of James, the Lakers have seen another big-time season from the 36-year-old superstar. He has averaged 25.8 points per game to go along with 8.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists. James has shot 50.9 percent from the floor and 35.8 percent from the three-point line.

There have been rumblings all season long that James needs to take some time off to rest up for the stretch run. James himself has other plans, and does not plan to take any games off in the second half of the season.

Granted, the Lakers do not have to make any moves. But, if they can find some help in the front-court or even more three-point shooting, they should make those moves.

As currently constructed, there is no doubt the Lakers can compete for another NBA Finals appearance and title. No team should ever pass up a chance to improve their roster.

LeBron James and the Lakers certainly need to improve how they have been playing lately, but a trade should still be an option.
