Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers have been linked to some star names in recent weeks. The front office showed an aggressive nature in the offseason and that could continue as we approach the deadline. The Lakers do not need to make any moves if they want to repeat as NBA champions but it certainly could not hurt.
There have been plenty of veteran names on the market. JJ Redick is one that would bring Los Angeles some strong shooting while Carmelo Anthony has a big attachment to LeBron James.
In this deal, Barnes would give them some more leadership and experience in the postseason. This is what a winning team would like to add if they want to stay near the top of the league.

Both James and Anthony Davis signed extension to the offseason so the Lakers are not going anywhere for quite some time. This means the front office will continue to be aggressive in pursuit of adding stars.
The Lakers have plenty of trade assets, whether draft picks or players, that they could send to Sacramento. This is one that would not be too much considering the assets they have.
