Denver Nuggets Receive: G Eric Gordon, PHI 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick Swap, HOU Outgoing)

Houston Rockets Receive: G Gary Harris, DEN 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected)

The Denver Nuggets do have some “wiggle room” financially which would allow them to acquire Eric Gordon, but they would have to part ways with one of their role players. Garry Harris, JaMychal Green or Paul Millsap would likely have to be on the move for the Nuggets to acquire Gordon financially, which is why Gary Harris is included in this deal.

Gary Harris had a breakout year during the 2017-18 season, but since then, he has struggled to remain healthy at times, which has affected his overall play and shooting numbers. Harris has always been known to be a reliable “3-and-D” type of shooting guard, but his lack of productivity on the offensive-end of the court is one of the main reasons why the Nuggets could look to move him.

Eric Gordon is in the first year of a four-year contract extension, meaning that the Nuggets would be tied down to him for many years to come, but he is exactly the kind of player they need to add on the perimeter, especially with Gary Harris being out and ineffective.

Gordon is now in his 13th season in the NBA and has consistently been the same player year-in and year-out for any team that he is on. Whether it is in the starting lineup or coming off the bench, he knows his role with the team he is on and is a great “3-and-D” player in today’s game.

Over the course of his career, he has averaged 16.6 points and has shot 42.5% from the floor and 36.8% from three-point range. After dealing with some injuries last season that kept him sidelined for most of the year, Gordon has looked great during the first half of this season and could be the third/fourth scoring option the Nuggets need to add to get back to the Western Conference Finals.

With that said, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade could make a lot of sense for both the Nuggets and the Rockets.
