Dallas Mavericks Receive: G George Hill, OKC 2022 2nd Round Pick

Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: G Trey Burke, G Josh Green

At 34-years old now, George Hill is nearing the end of his career, but he is still a high-impact, veteran player in this league. Just last year, he led the league in three-point shooting percentage with the Bucks, shooting about 46% from deep.

Before getting injured this season, Hill was averaging 38.6% from three-point range, which would make him one of the best three-point shooters on the Mavericks this season. Maxi Kleber, Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr. are really the only real threats on the perimeter for the Mavs, which could end up hurting them come playoff time.

Dallas needs to add another perimeter shooter that they can bring into the game off-the-bench and given the versatility George Hill brings to the table as a floor general and ball-handler as well, he could be a perfect fit to also help take a lot of pressure off of Luka Doncic to make all the plays for this team.

Not only has he been on numerous championship contending teams over the years, but the veteran guard has played with Giannis Antetokonumpo and LeBron James, two of the best talents in the league, which is why he could fit in perfectly next to Luka.

Trey Burke put together some really solid performances in the NBA Bubble last season for Dallas and as a result, he earned himself a three-year, $10M contract prior to this season. At 28-years old, Burke has played a lot at the NBA level and could be a very reliable, still relatively young rotational player for the Thunder.

Josh Green was drafted 18th overall by the Mavericks this past draft and definitely has a lot of potential to develop into a solid “3-and-D” guard. His length and shooting abilities are what shaped him to be a first-round pick and if the Mavericks are not willing to trade a physical first-round pick, then they may have to trade Green to acquire Hill.

Trading for George Hill definitely gives the Mavericks a better chance to win games now, which is why they could be willing to deal both Burke and Green to acquire him. Now, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade could make sense for both the Thunder and the Mavericks.
