The Orlando Magic have received a ton of trade interest in their star big man Nikola Vucevic. Reports stated that both the Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics had interest in trading for him. Now, both the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs have been added to the list of teams interested.
According to a report from Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Heat and Spurs are both looking to trade for Vucevic ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Vucevic would be a huge addition for both teams. However, there is no guarantee that the Magic are actually open to moving the star center.
So far this season with the Magic, Vucevic has averaged 24.6 points per game to go along with 11.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steals. He has shot 48.3 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 41.2 percent of his three-point attempts.
Those numbers would look good in the front-court for both the Heat and Spurs. Both teams could use an upgrade at the center position, although San Antonio could use a big man much more than Miami.
Can you imagine a front-court pairing of Vucevic and Bam Adebayo? Teams would have a nightmare trying to defend the Heat big man duo. Pat Riley loves making moves for stars and this would be a big-time addition.
On the other hand, the Spurs have surprised quite a few teams this season and are a competitive basketball team. Adding a weapon like Nikola Vucevic would take their offense to the next level. He isn’t a good defender, but the Spurs desperately need more offense.
With four teams showing major trade interest in Vucevic, it will be interesting to see what the Magic choose to do. They don’t want to trade their star center, but for the right price they should consider that option.
Expect to hear many more rumors about Nikola Vucevic in the coming days. The Heat, Spurs, Celtics, and Hornets are going to keep making trade advances and the Magic have a tough decision to make.
