Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
It has been quite sometime since the New York Knicks were relevant in a good way in the NBA. They have lacked that star presence since trading away Carmelo Anthony and could be looking for another. We have seen players like Zach LaVine and Andre Drummond linked to New York but they could go a different direction entirely here.
Jerami Grant is one of the best three-and-D guys in the league. He thrives in the midrange and can step out further to knock down a shot. His ability on the defensive end is something that would fit in well with New York. Tom Thibodeau has the Knicks playing great defense and leading the league in points allowed this season.
RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley are beginning to come to the road which gives the Knicks a nice young core to rely on. Randle has expressed interest in signing long-term with the Knicks and if he does, it would be smart to put another star with him.

The league is completely different when the Knicks are in a playoff race. They have a chance to take advantage of a weak Eastern Conference and sneak their way in over the second half of the season. To do so, they might be to add another player at the deadline.
