The New York Knicks are going to be a team to keep a close eye on as the NBA trade deadline continues drawing closer. Currently sitting at No. 5 in the Eastern Conference with a 19-18 record, the Knicks would like to add more talent to their roster. One name that could be a target is Charlotte Hornets point guard Terry Rozier.
Over the past couple of years, the Knicks have maintained interest in trading for Rozier. Now, the Hornets could actually be interested in moving him for the right price.
LaMelo Ball has taken over as the clear-cut starting point guard for the Hornets. Charlotte also has Devonte Graham on the roster. Trading Rozier would make a lot of sense at this point in time.
One NBA executive, who requested to remain anonymous, believes that the Knicks are likely to pursue Rozier at the deadline this year.
“Terry Rozier is a name that comes up a lot for the Knicks. They love his game on both sides of the floor and think he would be a perfect long-term point guard. Rozier may not land with New York, but I think they’ll try.”
So far this season with the Hornets, Rozier has averaged 20.5 points per game to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He has also chipped in 1.4 steals per game. Rozier has shot 49 percent from the floor and an impressive 43.9 percent from the three-point line.
Talk about an offensive upgrade for the Knicks. They would be getting a point guard who can run the offense and score the ball at a very high level. His three-point shooting has been impressive and if that continues, he has the potential to put up even bigger numbers in New York.
Julius Randle is the face of the franchise for the Knicks and made the All-Star game this year. He is a player that New York could build around. Rozier would be a nice complimentary piece.
Expect to see the Knicks be aggressive ahead of the trade deadline. They want to compete and they are going to do everything they can to do so. Trading for a talent like Terry Rozier would make them a much better team.
