Why This Trade Would Benefit The Washington Wizards
The Wizards have some big contracts on their team and they could be handcuffed for the future. They took on another one when they made the deal for Russell Westbrook. This particular deal is a chance to dump one that is not being used in a very big role.
Davis Bertans has started just three games this year after signing that $80 million contract in the offseason. He has an intriguing skill set that would fit a lot of teams because of his size and ability to shoot the ball from three-point range.
In return, Washington would get Marvin Bagley III, who is on a much cheaper deal and would not require much if an extension to sign. This is a good move for a Washington and one that could help them clear space right away.
