Why This Trade Would Benefit The OKC Thunder

The OKC Thunder are in a position to rebuild and keep getting younger. This is a team that made the postseason a year ago behind an all-star season from Chris Paul. He was sent to the Phoenix Suns and the Thunder immediately began struggling. This was to be expected and the front office clearly has a plan.

The Thunder have draft picks stocked away from deals involving Russell Westbrook and Paul George. This means they have a chance to make some deals in the future. It all depends on what Presti wants to do.

Matisse Thybulle is an interesting player that would fit into the rebuilding plans in Oklahoma City. The Thunder already have an elite defender in Luguentz Dort on the perimeter and adding Thybulle next to him would form an incredible defensive one-two punch. All the while being able to switch everything with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at the one spot.

He has not been able to fully emerge as a productive player during his two years in Philadelphia. With the Thunder, he would have a chance to join Gilgeous-Alexander and play in an extended role. This would help Thybulle take the next step.

The Thunder would also get Mike Scott, who could be a three-point threat when he gets an opening. This trade would help the Thunder get younger as they would send away a veteran point guard and add some pieces that could help in the future.
