After entering the season with high hopes, the Minnesota Timberwolves are once again one of the worst teams in the NBA. In fact, Minnesota currently holds the worst record in the league and recently fired head coach Ryan Saunders.
Nothing has gone right for the Timberwolves since they drafted Anthony Edwards 1st overall back in November and nothing has gone right for this organization on or off the court. After pleading guilty to a felony charge for threats of violence, T-Wolves guard Malik Beasley, who was having a breakout season, was suspended for 12 games without pay.
With Beasley now being away from the team until some point after the All-Star break, as well as frustrations setting in for numerous players in this organization, the Timberwolves find themselves on the brink of tearing everything apart again and starting over. They brought in D’Angelo Russell at the trade deadline last season to pair him with Karl-Anthony Towns in hopes to get their All-Star center some help, but Russell has played in just 32 games since being traded to Minnesota.
It seems like nothing can go right for this organization and just the other day, veteran guard Ricky Rubio voiced his frustrations with the organization claiming “I don’t feel like this is building something.”

Who knows what the future holds for the T-Wolves, but they are not in a position to win, they are not in a position to contend and sooner or later, they may wind up pushing their beloved All-Star center, Karl-Anthony Towns, away. This is why Minnesota could look to be aggressive at this year’s trade deadline and look to bring in more talented players to potentially turn things around quickly.
They are not going to make the playoffs this year, but next season could be a “make-or-break” year for Minnesota in terms of starting over and tearing everything apart. This is why Aaron Gordon is a very real trade target for the Timberwolves and a potential impactful forward for them.
