Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets

Just like the New Orleans Pelicans, the Houston Rockets are a team that are in  a rebuilding phase. When you send away stars like James Harden and Russell Westbrook, your team is going to be worse automatically.

That is showing in the standings for the Rockets but they are focused on building for the future. That is what this new-look front office has made clear. It was interesting to see Houston acquire Victor Oladipo so quickly after the James Harden blockbuster. Well many might have thought this was a move to sign him, it could be quite the opposite.

Victor Oladipo is still one of the biggest trade pieces on the market and the Rockets could have saw this as an opportunity to use him in a deal. If this was the idea, the front office is two steps ahead. Oladipo turned down an extension with the Rockets and now it is likely that he is going to be moved.

In this particular deal, JJ Redick would help for three-point range while Lonzo Ball is still looking to find a solid home. He has a high ceiling and could develop in Houston in an extended role. The Rockets will have plenty of suitors if Oladipo is on the market and it will be interesting to see which one they decide to make.
