Why This Trade Would Benefit The Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are playing better in recent weeks but it has been a long climb since their poor start. After a postseason appearance last year, Dallas was expecting to become staples in the postseason.

Luka Doncic is already one of the top players in the league and it is about putting the right guys around him. That is what the Mavericks attempted to do when they made a blockbuster deal with the New York Knicks. They acquired both Porzingis and Hardaway Jr. in the deal.

Both names have been featured in NBA trade rumors to this point and it is likely that someone is moved at some point. Green has not had a great season but would have a chance to rejuvenate himself with a player like Doncic.

The Mavericks would shed Hardaway Jr.’s contract in hopes of putting themselves in a better position moving forward. If Marc Cuban truly does not want to trade Porzingis, then Hardaway Jr. could be the man that is moved. It will be interesting to see what Dallas does as they try to keep pace in a difficult Western Conference.
