Andre Drummond, Cleveland Cavaliers, NBA Rumors

Chicago Bulls Receive: C Andre Drummond

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: F Otto Porter Jr, F Chandler Hutchison, CHI 2021 2nd Round Pick, CHI 2022 1st Round Pick, CHI 2022 2nd Round Pick

Otto Porter Jr. has been dealing with a back injury all season long and has only played in 16 games for the Bulls this year, but they would definitely be willing to dump him to anyone who is willing to take on his $28.4M salary this season. With him set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year and the fact that the Cavaliers are not a playoff containing team, they could be more than willing to pay Otto Porter Jr. this season in return for a lot of draft compensation.

While they only get one first-round pick in this trade scenario, the Cavaliers would be receiving a lot of immediate draft compensation from the Bulls that they could potentially look to utilize to continue building their youthful core.

Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen are the future of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the best thing this team can continue doing is draft high-level, young talents. This trade definitely gives them the capability to do that, even though they do not receive much value on the player end of things with Porter Jr. and Hutchison.

As for Drummond, he has been really productive and has proven once again that he is one of the best rebounding centers in the NBA. In 25 games with the Cavaliers, he averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and shot 47.4% from the floor.

While they do have Wendell Carter Jr, Lauri Markkanen (when healthy) and Thaddeus Young in their frontcourt, adding Andre Drummond could make the Chicago Bulls real playoff threats this year and give them yet another high-level talent to pair with Zach LaVine.

It would cost them quite a bit of immediate draft compensation, but the Bulls have plenty of draft picks to make up for this loss and they could potentially look to keep Drummond past this season. He is one of the top rebounding bigs in the league today and at the small price in this trade, the Bulls could make out really well.

The only question that remains is if the Cavaliers are looking to get more value in terms of player production by trading away Andre Drummond? Let’s take a look at why this trade makes sense for both the Bulls and the Cavs.
