Charlotte Hornets Receive: F LaMarcus Aldridge

San Antonio Spurs Receive: C Cody Zeller, F Miles Bridges, G Malik Monk, LAC 2021 2nd Round Pick, BRK 2021 2nd Round Pick

Not only would the San Antonio Spurs get a ton of immediate value in this trade, but Miles Bridges and Malik Monk from the Charlotte Hornets are both young talents under 24-years old. The Spurs have a great blend of young and veteran talents on their roster, which is why they are very much in the playoff discussion once again this year, but ultimately, this team is going to have to invest in their future.

Derrick White, Lonnie Walker IV, Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson have all stepped up into bigger roles over the years with the Spurs and getting two more high-potential, young talents could greatly improve this San Antonio Spurs organization moving forward.

Not only is Bridges a versatile forward, but his athleticism makes him a great second-unit role player. Malik Monk is more of a catch-and-shoot guard on the perimeter, which could greatly help the Spurs seeing as they rank 16th in the league in three-point shooting.

Right now, the Spurs are not championship contenders and while they could potentially make the playoffs, they do not have the firepower to compete with the top teams in the West. As a result, acquiring more high-level, youthful talents could set them up for a lot of success and potentially emerge as a contender in the West for years to come.

The Spurs also get Cody Zeller in this trade, who is a solid center, but ultimately frees up $15.4M in cap space for San Antonio to play around with in free agency next offseason. They could use this extra cap space to re-sign DeMar DeRozan or potentially take this team in a new direction.

Whatever the Spurs decide to do with LaMarcus Aldridge, they should at least look to gauge interest in him around the league at the trade deadline because they could ultimately get a ton of value for a veteran player who does not have much time left in the league.
