The Miami Heat are going to be an incredibly interesting team to watch as the NBA trade deadline draws closer. After a slow start to the season, the Heat are getting back on track and are looking to add a star to their lineup. Two names to keep a close eye on are Houston Rockets star John Wall and Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry.
Both players would represent major upgrades for the Heat at the point guard position. Wall, in particular, would provide Miami with more dynamic playmaking and scoring potential.
According to a report from Heat Nation, the Heat view both Wall and Lowry as potential targets with the deadline coming up quickly.
Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would love to add a third star to the mix. Tyler Herro is good, but he has not developed quite like many expected. Goran Dragic and Duncan Robinson are solid supporting cast members, but neither of them can help take over a game for the Heat.
So far this season in 25 games with the Rockets, Wall has averaged 21.0 points per game to go along with 6.0 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. He has shot 42.4 percent from the floor overall and 34 percent from the three-point line. Those numbers would be big for the Heat to add.
On the other hand, Lowry has been having a solid season with the Raptors. He has averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Lowry has shot 45.7 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from the three-point line.
Looking in from the outside, Lowry would be the better fit if the Heat want to add more shooting. Wall would be a better fit if they want another player who can create for teammates and create his own shot. Either player would help make the Heat a serious contender once again.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Heat as the trade deadline comes closer. John Wall and Kyle Lowry may not end up in Miami, but they are both reasonable and excellent trade targets.
