JJ Redick named a possible trade target for the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be active ahead of the NBA trade deadline as they look to make a run at a second straight NBA Finals win. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still the best duo in the league, but they could use more support. One name to keep an eye on could be New Orleans Pelicans sharpshooter JJ Redick.

Redick has been mentioned in a ton of trade rumors over the past couple of weeks. He has had a rough season with the Pelicans so far, but has been starting to get things going recently.

One NBA scout believes Redick could end up being a legitimate trade target for the Lakers.

“I think JJ Redick is a player the Lakers could seriously look into trading for. They need more shooting more than they need a center. Redick would be a perfect fit with LeBron and AD and wouldn’t break the bank.”

So far this season with the Pelicans, Redick has averaged 8.7 points per game to go along with 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He has shot 40.7 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 36.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 36 years old, there is no question that Redick would love to join an NBA Finals contender. He missed the playoffs last season for the first time in his 16-year NBA career. Being able to join the Lakers would give him a real chance to win a championship.

No one knows what kind of price the Pelicans will ask in return for Redick. However, the Lakers should be able to afford whatever it ends up being. There is no way New Orleans can ask for an arm and a leg for a veteran who has had a down season.

It will be interesting to see what the Lakers try to do ahead of the deadline. They are without a doubt one of the top contenders in the NBA, but they do not look quite as dominant as they did last year. Adding a three-point shooter like JJ Redick could be exactly the move that helps them turn things around.

Expect to see the Lakers add at least one player ahead of the trade deadline. Redick could be the guy, but there is no guarantee that is the case.
