Heat ‘waiting and seeing’ the situation with Karl-Anthony Towns

The Miami Heat are a team that no one knows quite what to expect ahead of the NBA trade deadline. After a slow start to the season, the Heat are getting things turned around. Now, it appears they could be looking to make a big-time trade for Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

One NBA executive spoke out and mentioned that the Heat are “waiting and seeing” what the situation becomes for Towns in Minnesota.

“Miami would like to make a big deal and they have their eyes on Karl-Anthony Towns. They are in wait and see mode with that situation. Many around the NBA feel like that Timberwolves could be open to business for KAT for the right price.”

Towns would be a huge and perfect addition for the Heat. Honestly, every team in the league would be a perfect situation for Towns. He is that kind of player.

So far this season with the Timberwolves in 16 games, Towns has averaged 22.0 points per game to go along with 10.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks. He has shot 49.4 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 37.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Looking at the potential fit with the Heat, Karl-Anthony Towns would give Jimmy Butler his best running mate yet. In fact, they were a great fit together during their brief time with the Timberwolves. No one knows what the price tag would be for Towns, but it wouldn’t be cheap.

Any deal would likely start with Heat young star guard Tyler Herro. Other names that could be included in the deal are Precious Achiuwa, Kendrick Nunn, and Duncan Robinson. A combination of those four guys and picks would be a good package to offer.

Pat Riley is always looking to make a blockbuster trade. The Heat have found ways to acquire star players in the past and will do so again. Towns is a name to keep a close eye on.

Expect to hear quite a few more rumors surrounding the Heat and Timberwolves this year. Karl-Anthony Towns may not end up being moved, but Miami is certainly monitoring his situation right now.
